7 Major nutrients and their role

We all have heard many times in our life that if a person is healthy then he must be taking a good amount of nutrients. And if a person is weak then we think he must be lacking nutrients in his/her diet. 

But have you given a thought about what actually nutrients are? 

What if I tell you, you all the name, in fact, we all must have heard them very often. But we usually don't pay attention to them. What we think is, we will have to change our diet and lifestyle. 

But let me explain to you!!

Nutrients are the science of nourishment. Eating food and beverages provides the body the nutrients needed to nourish the body. Nutrients are the essential substance the body needs. 

Like this, we all need them in our daily life for ourselves, for our body, and for living healthy life. 

There are 7 Nutrients:  Carbohydrates, Protein, Fat (Lipids), Vitamins, Minerals, Fiber, and Water.

After knowing them, you must be like we eat them. 

1. Carbohydrates: The major source of the energy in our daily diet. Carbohydrates are present in Simple carbohydrates and complex carbohydrates. Carbohydrates we required n our daily life for work.
Carbohydrates you should take in normal amount because if you take less amount or large amount then they lead to some diseases. 
Taking proper amount is very important.  

Sources: The major sources are Cereals, Grains, Legumes, Nuts, Vegetables, Fruits, Sugar, and Jaggery.

2. Protein: It is known for providing structure and strength to the body.

Proteins are also known for amino acids which play many roles in the body.

There are Essential amino acids that are provided through diet and Non-essential amino acids are not provided through diet. The body itself made them.

In vegetarians, we can see easily a deficiency of protein because their diet is not rich in protein. 

All dairy products which are made up of milk are good sources and along with that legumes and nuts are also an option they can choose.

Intake of the proper amount is very important. 

Sources: Dairy product (Milk, Curd, Panner, Cheese), Egg, Meat products, Nuts, and Legumes.

3. Lipid/Fat: They are also a source of energy. There are four types of lipids Simple lipids, Compound lipids, Derived lipids, and Ethyl alcohol.

We daily eat fat like ghee, oil, butter. But we should also think about it we always have to take less amount of all this. 

The important thing you should always remember about fat is, always eat less fat. That is the best way to keep you healthy. More fat will invite more problems and sometimes diseases also.

4. Vitamin: Vitamin plays many roles in our body like maintain eye, bone, tissues healthy, help in maintaining brain function and red blood cell function, and many more. There are two types of vitamin- Water-soluble vitamin (Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Pyridoxine, Folate, Cobalamin, Ascorbic acid) and Fat-soluble vitamin (Vitamin A, D, E, and K).

Usually, deficiency of vitamins is not seen because the sources are our main foods like vegetables, fruits. Eating raw form like salad is also a nice choice for a healthy life.

5. Minerals: Mineral roles are many throughout the body like maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance, prevention from bone disease, colon cancer, heart disease, and many other diseases.  There are Macronutrient, Micronutrients and Trace elements.

Like vitamins, minerals deficiency is also rare because we consume them in a very well manner. 


Sources: Vegetables, Fruits, Dairy product, Meat product, and Nuts.

6. Fiber: Major role of fiber is in the gastrointestinal tract and preventing disease. There are soluble fiber and insoluble fiber.
Eating fruits and vegetables are always the best option other than any processed foods. so eat plenty of fiber. 
Sources: Whole grains, Legumes, Nuts, Vegetables, and Fruits.

7. Water: The major role of water is to maintain the balance of fluid. To keep hydrated, remove body waste, and protects tissues.

Drinking water is always refreshing, it keeps you hydrated and your skin also glows. 

Along with all this, it also helps you to keep your gut health strong. If you drink the proper amount of water then you will not face problems like digestion. Water helps you to keep your digestion process. 

In cases of weight loss condition, then water is best for them.

Small changes are always effective and they also give you better results also.
