Hypertension or High BP: Solution for you!!

 Cardiovascular diseases as most of us are aware today, are the most potent killers, particularly so in advanced countries of the world.

Today, life is a race in which a person tries to compete with the other in terms of wealth, status, success, reputation, and through fair and unfair means. The accompanying tension and worries, the craving for cigarettes, the compelling peg, the leisurely or hectic mode of travel, the rich food and overweight, all drag the person towards a disease which either debilitates him physically and mentally for the rest of the life or can even be fatal.

There is high blood pressure- Hypertension, Heart attack or atherosclerosis are the major diseases of the cardiovascular system. There is not one but many causes leading to these diseases.

Today this article is about high blood pressure.

High blood pressure is also known as hypertension in the clinical term. For detecting the blood pressure is high or normal, the person should check blood pressure regularly. If the blood pressure is high then it confirms and shows that person is having high blood pressure and time to see the doctor.

It can be developing due to unknown factor but there also some factors which contribute are:

Age- As age increases the risk for developing high blood pressure increases.

Family history- If a person in the family having high blood pressure then the risk of other members developing the same disease is increased.

Salt- Many people have a habit of eating high salt. If the person is having more habit of eating outside food which are processed foods and they are high in sodium.

                                           

Overweight or obesity and alcohol- These both weights can increase the risk of high BP in the future. And drinking regular alcohol is also another factor.  

Exercise and Smoking- Lack of exercise also can increase the risk of high BP. And the other factor which affects is smoking. These both are the risk factor for high BP.

Now, these were habits and now which diseases can develop the high BP.

Diabetes mellitus, Kidney diseases, narrow arteries condition, Cushing's syndrome or other hormonal condition, drugs.

Now how to detect blood pressure:

There are two types of pressure systolic and diastolic.

Systolic pressure is the blood pressure when the heart contracts, specifically the moment of maximum force during the contraction. And Diastolic pressure is the blood pressure between heartbeats when the heart is resting and dilating.

The definition of high blood pressure/ hypertension means blood pressure is 140/90 mmHg or more for a sustained period. 

What should you look at in the diet?

The DASH diet is very effective in hypertension.

- In which high amount of fruits and vegetables. There should be avoidance of sodium-rich leafy vegetables like spinach, mint, tomato, and other foods. 

- fish should be included. Take the option like low-fat milk. 

- Reduce the amount of salt in the food. With sodium, the fat is also reduced. 

- Salt restriction through salt in cooking or at the table, baking powder, sodium bicarbonate, salt preservatives, potato chips, ketchup, cheese, salted butter, shellfish, and other seafood, bakery product. These all items should be removed from your diet. Will help your blood pressure condition.

                               

Researches have concluded that if a diet is high in fruits and vegetables the there are very few chances of stroke. Fiber and folic acid which are present in these foods play an important role for your body to protect from a stroke. 

Lifestyle changes should be made if the person is having high blood pressure. 

Weight- There are many problems which are generated due to overweight or obesity. The key is to solve this problem is to reduce the weight and half of the problem will be solved. 

Routine- It is very important to plan your schedule and follow it. From this, you will create healthy habits, your work performance will be increased, there will be enough time for rest. 

Exercise- When we heard exercise it is not meant that you have to do heavy lifting or very intensive exercise. By developing simple walking is also effective. Researchers have said, taking a regular walk is the way to stabilizing the hypertension condition. 

Yoga- This is also an alternative for intensive exercise. Doing simple yoga sans they are very effective for breathing pattern, they also good for your mental and emotional health. If the person's BP is on borderline then some yogic exercises are effective.

With the help of food, proper modification in lifestyle can be effective. And you can see the result after doing these simple techniques in your life.
