Sunday Special: Chickpea recipe's

Chickpea is the legume that is used by Indians very often. Chickpea is rich in protein, carbohydrates, fiber, iron, magnesium, copper, phosphorus. 

Chickpea is a very good source of plant-based protein. They are also known for keeping your appetite in control. Because they are high in fiber and protein. 

There is a role of chickpea in controlling the blood sugar level. Researchers suggest that it is effective in Diabetes also. 

They are also good for bone health, as magnesium content is good in chickpea. They are also known as anti-oxidant, which means they will also helpful in cancer. 

They are low in cholesterol also. They will also be helpful in anemia as they are high in iron and copper.

Coconut Chickpea Curry

This curry is famous in South India, along with that it is a spicy and delicious recipe and perfect for your Sunday. Everyone can eat this dish as it is a plant-based recipe. 

Ingredients: chickpea, fennel, black pepper, cumin seeds, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, coriander seeds, red chilies, grated coconut, oil, mustard seed, tej patta, curry leaves, onion, ginger, garlic, tomatoes, green chilies

Method: First clean chickpea (1 cup) and soaked them overnight or for 8-9 hours in water. 

After the chickpea is soaked then add water and 1/2 tsp salt and pressure cook them. Cooked them on medium flamed and took 15-20 whistles from the pressure cooker. 

For the masala, we need some spices- 1/2 tbsp cumin seeds, 1/2 tbsp fennel, 5-6 black pepper, 2 cardamoms, 1 tbsp coriander seeds, 1-inch cinnamon, 3 dry red chilies, 3-4 cloves. Roast all the spices in a pan on low flame and dry roast them until they become fragrant. 

Then add 1/2 cup of grated coconut and continuously stir the spices. Roast all the spices on low flame until the coconut becomes golden. After that cool the spices. 

Then add the spices to the grinder, with water grind them and make a smooth paste of it.  

Now take a pan and add 3 tbsp of oil to it and heat it. Then add 1/4 tbsp mustard seed and allow them to crackle. Then add 1-2 tej patta and stir. Add curry leaves 8-10. 

Then add 1-2 small onions or 1 large onion chopped onions in the pan. Cook the onion until they become light golden. Then add ginger and garlic paste 1-1/2 tbsp and cooked it. Then add 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder and cooked it for 1-3 minutes. 

Then add 2 chopped tomatoes and cooked them for 4-5 minutes. Then add the masala paste and stir very well. Then add chickpea to it. Stir again well and saute for a minute. 

Now add 1 cup water and 2-3 green chilies to the pan. Add salt as per your taste. Then cooked it for 15-20 minutes until it becomes thick like curry. Then add 2 tbsp coriander powder to it and cook for 5 minutes. 

Serve the curry hot with coriander and coconut garnishing. 

Chana chaat

It is in the chaat form made with white chana. It is a very easy and perfect nutritious snack if you're looking for it. 

Ingredients: Chickpea, potatoes, onion, tomatoes, green chili, coriander, lemon. 

Methods: First clean chickpea (1 cup) and soaked them overnight or for 8-9 hours in water. 

After the chickpea is soaked then add water and 1/2 tsp salt and pressure cook them. Cooked them on medium flamed and took 15-20 whistles from the pressure cooker. Drain all the water. 

Cooled them first for chaat. then boiled the water and cook the potato in it. Once the potato is cooked then remove the peel of it and chopped and keep it aside for cooling. 

Chopped small cubes of 1 small onion, 1 small onion, and 2 green chilies and coriander. 

Take a bowl and add chickpeas then add 1 tbsp cumin powder, 1 tbsp red chilly powder, 1 tbsp chaat masala, add black and white salt as per your taste. Then add chopped small cubes of potatoes and give it a mix well. Then add lemon juice as per your taste.  

You can make coriander chutney, tamarind chutney, spicy chutney and just add them as per your taste. 

Serve it white small sev. And enjoy your healthy snacks. 

Chickpea vada

Vada is very famous in India, but chickpea vada is on another level. A perfect snack recipe for your weekend. These are vada can be eaten separately with chutney or you use these vada in a burger for the vegetarian option. 

Ingredients: Chickpea, cumin, green chilies, ginger, rice flour, onion 

Method: First clean chickpea (1 cup) and soaked them overnight or for 8-9 hours in water. 

After the chickpea is soaked then add water and 1/2 tsp salt and pressure cook them. Cooked them on medium flamed and took 15-20 whistles from the pressure cooker. Drain all the water. 

Then take a grinder, take soaked chickpea, cumin, green chilies, ginger, and find them coarse paste. 

Then add rice flour, onion, and spices and mix it well. The mixture will be dry in form so the vada can be made easily. 

Then make small vada or patties. Then take oil heat it well, add the vada in it, and cook until they become golden. Drain them on tissue paper for extra oil to remove. 

You can serve them hot with coconut chutney or coriander chutney or with ketchup. 

For coriander chutney- Take coriander in good amount, then add 2 tbsp curd, 4-5 black pepper, 3 green chilies, 1 tbsp sugar, salt as per your taste. After adding a very small amount of water grind the ingredients and make a fine paste of it. 

For coconut chutney- Take fresh coconut, add 1 small onion, 1 small tomato, ginger, 3 chilies, 3-4 black pepper, 1 tbsp curd, 1/2 tbsp sugar, and with some water grind it and make a fine paste from it. 

All these recipes are best for health-wise and taste-wise. Try them and make your Sunday great with delicious food.
